Graeae Theatre Company: Call for performers, The Threepenny Opera

Next Spring the New Wolsey Theatre, Birmingham Rep, Nottingham Playhouse, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Graeae are presenting a one-of-a-kind production of The Threepenny Opera.

The New Wolsey Theatre’s Peter Rowe and Graeae’s Jenny Sealey have joined forces once again to direct this anarchic version of Weill and Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera – adapted from John Gay’s The Beggars Opera.

Kurt Weill’s score is gloriously complex and we are looking for a highly skilled ensemble of actor/musicans, actor/BSL signers and actor/singers to make up our motley crew.

The ensemble requires: baritone, tenor, bass baritone, alto, soprano and mezzo voices as well as a range of instruments including trumpet, trombone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, bassoon, clarinet, cello, double bass, banjo, guitar, percussion, keyboards and accordion.

Our ensemble will be off the wall so don’t be put off by the words, voice and music if you use different methods to access reading music, adaptive technology to play your instruments or if you are Deaf with voice or a BSL user.
