Two people looking at an exhibit at the Liverpool Museum

Representation of D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse people in museums - have your say!

Do you define yourself as D/deaf, disabled or neurodiverse? Do you/your group love history, museums or the arts but don’t feel that you are represented in museums? Have you always wanted to work in a Museum as a Curator but never managed to get a foot in the door? Or do you currently work in a Museum but find it difficult to move roles or progress your career?

We want to hear about your experiences.

The Accentuate programme is planning a brand new programme called Curating for Change, to increase representation of D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse people in museum workforces, collections and exhibitions.

We are working with over 20 Museums across England, and in 2021/2022 will be offering a series of paid fellowships and traineeships, as well as working closely with local communities, and developing exhibitions and events exploring disability history stories.

Right now we are planning what our programme will look like, and we want to hear from people with lived experience of disability about any challenges or barriers you have experienced in wanting to work with or in Museums.

We are inviting you to get involved by completing one of our very short surveys. Please use one of the following links to take you through to the relevant page:

If you are an individual or a group who has/have worked with museums, or would like to (e.g. sharing your stories, creating displays, advising on access), please click here
